About Giro

Why Giro exists
Tourism infrastructure tells newcomers the same generic story. But every place has multiple narrative layers — graffiti culture, medieval history, local legends, immigrant stories, food origins. The real story of a city is always told by the people who actually live there.
Giro is an audio tour platform built around that idea: a person standing anywhere in the world should be able to open Giro, press play, and hear a story about that exact place that they could never find in a guidebook — told by someone local, in their own voice.
How it works
- Open the app, browse cities, pick a tour.
- Download the tour for offline use — no roaming required on the day.
- Walk to the first stop. The app uses GPS to know when you arrive and starts the audio automatically.
- Move to the next stop. Map and bottom sheet keep you on track.
- Each stop has a short audio story plus images, deeper-dive links, and a journal entry option for memories.
Who makes the tours
Giro is creator-first. Local storytellers — historians, artists, foodies, residents who simply love their neighborhood — record the audio and pick the stops. They earn a share of every tour sold or sponsored.
An AI content layer assists creators with research, image curation, and translation, but the voice and the editorial judgment stay human. Generated drafts always pass through admin review before publishing.
The product story
Giro began as a mobile prototype with hand-curated tours in Medellín, Rionegro, New York, and Lisbon. We validated the concept by walking the routes ourselves before opening it up to other creators. The current PWA is a clean rebuild that surpasses the original.
We're a small team. We ship fast. We listen.
